There is Room for Private Investment in the Bobi Grazing Reserve – Governor Abubakar Sani Bello

Governor of Niger State, Abubakar Sani Bello, has said that there is enough pasture in the Bobi Grazing Reserve located in the Mariga Local Government Area to accommodate more private investments. The state government had disclosed this in 2020 and has attracted several private investors including Chivita and Friesland Campina WAMCO Nigeria. In addition, Governor Bello said that there are ongoing collaborations with developed countries that are advanced in livestock and dairy products such as Hungary, Brazil, Netherlands, India, and Pakistan.

According to the governor, the reserve has excess pasture in relation to the cows available, so opening the excess to private investors within and outside Nigeria would serve as a source of income for the state. The pasture currently has the capacity to feed 9,000 cows, but the reserve is grazing less than 2,000 cows.

In a call for private investments, the government has assured potential investors that adequate measures have been put in place to ensure the safety of their investments.
